Brite Ranch
L.C. Brite arrived in Presidio County on October 12, 1885. He established a Hereford Ranch on the
grazing plains at the base of Capote Mountain, bordered by the Sierra Vieja rim
rock on the west. Brite fell in love
with and married Miss Edward McMinn Anderson, and the couple had two
children. Jane Brite White,
granddaughter of L.C. Brite, and her husband James E. White, Jr., currently
manage the Brite Ranch. |
|
Brite has only
had four ranch managers since its inception.
L.C. Brite raised a herd of unique linebred Herefords, branded Bar
Cross, still continued into a fifth generation of cowmen. Brite opened a general store and a post
office was planned in 1914. The Brite
Ranch continues to operate one of the oldest and largest closed herds of
Hereford cattle in the United States.

|
Brite closed his herd in 1915.
The Highland Hereford Breeders Assn was founded in 1918 with the help of
Brite. Brite Ranch has been providing
quality Herefords in Texas since 1885..
J.E. White, Jr., and his sons continue the tradition by offering one of
the largest Hereford production sales in the country. McMinn (Mac) is a partner in the
Hereford operation.
Mac has been riding and training horses most of his life. Owning Doc T Bar changed the Brite Ranch Remuda future.

Ranch Raised The ranches where these horses are raised are located in Presidio
and Jeff Davis County. With the family being in the ranching industry for over 100 years, horses are a necessary
part of ranch life. As you can well see, we are here for the
long haul and want to share with you the joy of a well bred—well started ranch
horse.

Our ranch raised quarter horses had pedigrees with years of cow
work behind them and these horses will willingly work a cow.
All that said, their dispositions also makes any ride a pleasure They are excellent
prospects for cutting, roping, reining, team penning and pleasure. Our joy is raising a well broke horse,
with a gentle disposition, and completely trainable horses that handle ranch work as normal daily routine. Brite Ranch Raid
